BRANTFORD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

Gian Stornelli VE3GSW

If you were to look around on a clear day from the corner of West St. and Clarence St. in Brantford, Ontario you will probably see several tall towers sticking their heads above the surrounding homes. These are the towers and antennas of our featured amateur John, VE3GSW. Yes planted neatly right in his vegetable garden are two very tall amateur radio towers with their impressive array of antennas.
Amateur radio operator. Gian Stornelli VE3GSW is just about done with what he has up so far. We hope. Tower one is just over one hundred feet tall and tower two is just over 75 feet tall. His station consists of 2 hf rigs , and rigs covering 2m/70cm, 6m, and 220 mhz. This project has taken just over 2 years to get where Gian is now. He has pretty well almost the whole band plan covered, and he is enjoying making distant contacts.
If you are on top of West St and Charring Cross and look down the hill the big tower is clearly visible from there. Gian has mentioned that anyone who is interested in checking out his station , should feel free to pop by his QTH and enjoy a cup of coffee with him prior to a personal tour of his very well equipped amateur radio station.

Our thanks go to Ray Marshall, VE3RXM, Editor for allowing us to insert photos and facts from his article in the 2007 September-October issue of the BARC's Newsletter "The Monitor".
